Battle of The Eye Shadow Sticks

L-R Rimmel, Kiko, No7, By Terry

Cream eye shadow became a bit of a thing last year, especially in stick form. Call us lazy but who doesn’t want a one swipe and your good to go product in their makeup bag.
Everyone went crazy for the By Terry Ombre Blackstar cream eye shadows and it seems lots of brands have followed suite.Cream sticks are everywhere so I have gathered a few from my collection to compare.

Rimmel

Starting off with Rimmel, which strictly speaking isn’t a stick like the others but it’s still the same in theory so we’ll allow that for now.  I really like these they glide on nice and smooth and the colour pay-off is great.  The only downside for me if the shade range, hence why I’ve only got one.  None of the other colours really appeal to me personally but that’s not to say they wouldn’t for someone else. Retailing at £5.99 these are a great way to test the water if you’re unsure about cream eye shadows.

Kiko Milani

Probably my joint favourite of the bunch, these are brilliant in terms of quality and price.  With over 30 shades in the range there are so many colours to chose from and in comparison to By Terry which is the most expensive, they rate just as high in terms of longevity and colour pay-off.  I never experience any fading or creasing and can’t wait to get my hands on moreIf you are unsure about splurging on By Terry or want to try a few different shades, then these are the best option by far.

No7

These ones are a bit hit and miss for me, the taupe colour I have here is ok, its not great in terms of pigmentation as I find it just doesn’t show up on my lids but some of the darker shades I tested looked like they’d show up more. The shimmery highlight colour, personally I feel is just awful.  I’ve never have I had an eye shadow that I’ve disliked so much and I know that’s a really bold statement to make. There are a few reasons, one being that the glitter particles in the formula are too big which results in a scratchy application. When the eye shadow was on it looked thick and uneven (I think due to the glitter?)  and if I tried to put anything over the top it clung to it making it look patchy. I remember checking myself in the mirror at work and thinking what the hell was wrong with my eyes and proceeding to scrape the remainder of the product off my eyelids – not cool. So if you’re going to go with No7 I’d recommend you avoid this shade at all costs!

By Terry Blackstar

Last but not least By Terry. In my opinion the only advantage they have over Kiko  is their shade range as they are sobeautiful and unique. Longevity, pigmentation and applicationis the same. The only downside to By Terry is the price. At £28 each they are sooo expensive! Luckily I got mine last year for my birthday - best reserve these as a treat but I couldn’t recommend them enough if you want something really special.

Yours truly

Xx
