MAC Strobe Cream

MAC Strobe Cream was once a must have item from MAC.  I remember longing after this for ages, never really understanding what it’s used for but none the less still wanting it anyway. So what does it do? Good question I hear you ask, well let me tell you how I’ve learnt to use mine and some of the tips and tricks I’ve picked up along the way to ensure I’ve put it to good use.

MAC say - The ultimate quick fix for the skin. Super-powered with potent botanicals; de-snoozes, de-stresses, moistens, freshens and boosts the look of dull, flat or tired-looking skin with a fully loaded vitamin zap and a mega dose of green tea. Brightens and clarifies with iridescent particles and antioxidants. Enhances the effects of light on all skin and in all lighting conditions from sunlight to spotlight.

I have to say I do agree and I kind of liken it to Charlotte Tilbury’s Wonder Cream, like a pre makeup comfort blanket for your skin. It can also be used as a highlighter or to mix in with heavier foundations to lighten the coverage and add a bit of moisture to the skin.

I use mine before applying Estee Lauder’s Double Wear which is amongst my all time faves for full coverage foundation. I find it makes the skin look a little bit more ‘real’ which is something I only normally achieve after a couple of hours wear with Double Wear after my natural oils start to come through. It takes off that mask like appearance when first applied.

I also like to mix my Strobe Cream in with foundation, especially in the winter when my skin is at it’s driest / dullest as again it adds radiance and much needed moisture back into the skin.

I haven’t tried highlighting with it, as I have to say I feel like its too runny / thin in consistency for that and there’s not enough sheen for a good highlight. It can look a little scary at first as its very pearlescent in colour, too much and you might start looking a bit ill as its very pale. Used sparingly this creates the most gorgeous glow and provides a really good base for most foundations. You could even use this down your shins or on the top of your shoulders / décolletage for a healthy skin look.

Hopefully you have found this article helpful. I don’t think MAC Strobe Cream is an essential, however It is a nice extra to any makeup bag.

Have you tried MAC Strobe Cream – what are your thoughts?
