Bare Minerals Bare Skin Foundation

The Bare Minerals Bare Skin Foundation caused a bit of a divide in the beauty world when it launched last year.  I wasn't overly excited to try it as most of the reviews I'd read weren't great, however it sounded like an interesting concept and I decided to give it a go.

Bare Minerals say this will reveal a brighter and more even skin-tone, has a silky light texture and contains a coconut-derived base with jojoba-coated mineral pigments, lilac plant stem cells
and vitamin C - Phew!

The texture of this foundation is very runny and the lady at Bare Minerals advised I give this a good shake before I use it to ensure the serum and foundation are fully mixed. I like to put this on the back of my hand first and apply it to my skin with a stippling brush as I find it distributes the product the most evenly and creates the best finish. Sometimes I'll pat over it with a Beauty Blender to ensure everything is blended and even.

I have to say I really like the finish of this foundation, it's so glowy and healthy and I feel like the serum really nourishes my skin.  This is great for dry skin or when your skins not looking it's best as It really injects hydration and plumps everything out.

I like to set mine with the MAC Studio Fix Powder, which is technically a powder foundation but for me adds a little bit more coverage and the longevity that I like. The only downside to this is that the bottle can get a little messy, after you've shaken the product and opened the cap the foundation has a habit of coming out before you've had a chance to grab it so be warned!

Bare Minerals offers a great range of shades so it was easy to find a match for me and I much prefer this to their original powder mineral foundation. I'd imagine this would work really well on mature skin when used with a good primer or for those 'no make, makeup' days.

Have you tried anything from Bare Minerals? Which is your favourite?
