For me Dream Matte Mousse is one of those marmite products you either love or hate. Over the years I have used this I never managed to stay faithful long enough for it to become a favourite but I always end up coming back for more.
So what is it about Dream Matte Mousse that I love? Well the texture really interests me for a start, light and air whipped. The shade range is impressive, a lot better than it used to be as it seems Maybelline have a lot more choice to offer now. And lastly the finish, I love how matte this keeps my skin throughout the day without the need for touch-ups.
And the things I hate. If you have even a hint of dryness on your face you may as well strap a big arrow to your head and point towards the offending area if you dare go near this stuff without a good moisturiser first. I find as I work in an air-conditioned office if my skin is a bit dehydrated then it can start to look dry towards the end of the day, especially if I’ve skipped moisturiser in the morning. I find MAC strobe cream works particularly well for this job as it hydrating and illuminating which makes a nice base under such a matte product.
I use my Dream Matte Mousse mostly with the Real Techniques Buffing Brush but have been playing around with the Beauty Blender lately finding this gives a much smoother finish. Overall I think this is a really nice affordable foundation best suited for those with oilier / combination skin, I've certainly enjoyed using it lately.
